“Playa de Vega” is a beautiful, extended, unspoiled and natural beach which is almost 2km long that has been declared a National Park.
It has a golden sandy beach with wonderful views of the Asturian coastline towards Lastres, and behind it views of green fields with mountains can de seen.
At La Calma it is one of our favourite beaches and we recommend our guests to visit it throughout the year regardless of the season. During summer, it is ideal as you can always find space to sun bathe without feeling crowded and it has a large parking area. During spring and fall, it is the perfect beach to walk and fill yourself with peace which is why it is featured within our Special Routes of Calmness.
“Playa de Vega” is also popular amongst surfers due to its waves and it is part of the Coastal Dinosaurs Trail where fossils can be seen.
The beach has good amenities including public toilets and showers and several options for food. Our favourites are “Restaurante Gueyu” de Mar which is famous for fresh barbecued seafood and fish as well as “La Terraza del Gringo” which is more informal.
The beach is located about 10 minutes away from La Calma and the centre of Ribadesella following the old road coastal road towards Gijón N-&32.
